When to start wearing reading glasses

The Warning signs:

When I was 42 I began to feel a strain at the back of my head when reading at night time. 

I asked my sister, who was an ophthalmic doctor, (good one to ask) what was this about.

The Solution:

Quite simply she said - you need reading glasses and very cheerfully she said reading a book is like holding a piece of elastic, you hold the book further and further away and eventually the elastic snaps and you have run out of options. Reading glasses are the solution.

The Reading Glasses Check List:

  • Headaches
  • Tired eyes
  • Using a larger font
  • Muddling 9 and 0
  • Making mistakes texting
  • Not able to read small print

The Good News:

If you are in your 40's you will only need minor correction:

 +0.50 +0.75 +1.00 +1.25 - these dioptres (official term for powers, strengths or correction) should do

More good news:

Wearing reading glasses will not accelerate the deterioration in your eyesight.

It will relieve eye strain and relax the muscles

You will stop squinting and developing lines around your eyes

Finally you will look great!!
